I’ve been really working hard on simplifying my blogging life. (the rest of my life only seems to be getting more complicated with school, work, a wedding less than a year away, and endless house projects)
In November, I did a very hard thing and announced that I would no longer be blogging on my food + fitness blog. That blog was my heart and soul for 5+ years, but I felt myself wanted to get away from the healthy living blog scene.
Even though I felt the need to simplify, it was still hard to essentially cut off a part of myself. And even hard to just figure out what part was okay to cut off.
Simplify to be more present.
The thing is, in order to be the best at anything, you need to have focus. In my want to do the “right thing” in having my blogs and social media narrowed down so that I could get the exact right audience for the content I was sharing…I ended up spreading myself too thin and accomplishing virtually nothing.
For example, having 4 blogs active and ready for posts to be published along with social media accounts for each (totaling about 20 social media accounts) when I’m also a student, a barista, a cat mom, a new homeowner, and an engaged lady planning a wedding led to insane overwhelm.
The good news: I reduced my social media accounts to just 1 Twitter, 1 Facebook, 2 Instagram Accounts so now I can be more present on each one.
The bad news: I think I need to take a break from this blog until my wedding is over. I started a wedding blog and I really want to keep updating it so that I can look back and reflect on this time, but there’s no way I can manage 3 blogs (and all of the stuff I already mentioned) at one time.
I am still open to doing blog makeovers (and might even have a sale this month because…January!), but I don’t want to feel the obligation to post here this year.
I hope you can understand!
