I had a blast working on The Beth Next Door’s blog makeover and today I’m sharing all of the lovely details.
Hey there! I’ve been over here working on blog makeovers like a busy bee the past couple of weeks!
I offered some blogger friends my services for free in exchange for reviews and I had a completely overwhelming response! I mean free is good, but they clearly had at least a LITTLE faith in me and my skillz to let me do some serious surgery on their passion projects.
Update: I’ve now moved on from Free to 75% off to 50% off now. Head over and fill out a form if you want to be in phase 3 of the beta testing! After that it’s 25% off and then full price!//
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on all of the projects thus far, but I really wanted to share this particular one with you because it just came together magically.
Is that weird? To describe a blog makeover project as magical?
Welp, that’s how I’m describing it.
Blog Makeover: The Beth Next Door
This doesn’t happen every time, but from Beth’s thorough description of herself and her blog, I had a pretty clear picture of who she was and what she was looking for which really helped how I decided to do her blog makeover.
Details to take into account:
- She’s a working mom.
- She’s a wannabe fashionista (I SO relate).
- She’s a lover of Minnesota and all local things.
- She loves pink.
- She was looking for something clean and bright.
After showing her some font examples, it all came together pretty quickly. I ended up creating about 15 examples over the course of a couple of e-mails because I was having so much fun playing around with the different elements we could add.
Beth is a working mother, a wannabe fashionista (her words!) and a Minnesota lover (I actually met her in Minnesota briefly when I lived there for a couple of years), and a wonderful writer, so there really were a ton of ways we could have gone.
The funny thing was that she really liked all of them (that alone was incredibly validating).
From a more professional image of a coffee cup and a keyboard, to a fun one with some bright fashion details (including some adorable bright yellow shoes) to a more simple one with a bold blue door (get it..girl next DOOR. I crack myself up.).
A lightbulb went off for both of us when I found a bright pink arrow AND a cute mom-next-door looking woman in some jeans with a bright pink purse. Boom.
Then all I had to do was install the Fun Theme, switch on the glitter mode (seriously, there is a way to toggle the Fun Theme so there are gold and pink details) and then I made everything pink and purple and awesome.
I was seriously dancing around that night telling my fiance how much FUN I had (ha. punny.) with this blog makeover. Not only did I have fun, but Beth really loves the end result. I may have mentioned how I cried a little bit on Instagram when I read her review she did on her blog.

This was a very validating experience for me and I can’t explain how excited I am to keep helping other bloggers make their blogs shine!

Question for you:
Are you a fan of the fun and colorful blog looks or do you prefer something more sleek and simple?
I loved reading your thoughts on making over my blog – and it really did come together so magically! You are amazing and I’m just so happy with everything and I’m so glad it was fun for you too!! xoxo
I really had WAYYY too much fun! So happy you let me makeover your blog, friend! <3
Great job! I love the colorful look so much! I cant wait to see what you do next!
Thanks, Mary! Can’t wait to work on your blog! 🙂
Me neither! Whoo hoo!!
The makeover looks great! That takes so much talent. I like both colorful and sleek and appreciate everyone’s personal aesthetic. I recently started making mine a little more simple, but one day I definitely want a logo and little touches of flare in the design!
Thank you so much, Margaret! I do think everyone has their own personal style, so I try to work with that, but I definitely lean towards bolder colors. (if you couldn’t tell haha)
I hope you keep me in mind! 🙂
