I did my very first blog makeover on the Blogger platform! I was pretty nervous because it’s been a couple of years since I’ve worked on the Blogger platform, but it went really well!
The Blogger: Mary from Real Girl’s Realm
I met my blogger friend, Mary, during the time when I was setting up my blog The iLOVE Project. I started the ALB Designs blog shortly after and had to put it on the back burner (because running 3 blogs, a business and having a job is nuts), but in that short time we really clicked.
Aside from all of our quirky similarities that naturally made us good internet friends, Mary is also super supportive and was so encouraging to me when I set up this new ALB Designs business. Because she was so encouraging, I offered her a free makeover (even after my own agreed upon number of freebies had been exceeded).
Of course all of this background might not seem important in the design process, but to me it really is! I love love LOVE getting to know the bloggers I’m working with. I like finding out what makes them tick. I like spending time reading their recent posts and even allow myself to fall down a rabbit hole if they are an especially good/entertaining writer.
I know it might seem excessive especially with my low prices, but it really helps with the overall design process and it makes the end product SO much more satisfying. It feels GOOD to help someone get a little closer to their dreams.
Mary is a mom of a teenager and loves talking about style and house projects. I love following her on Instagram because she posts all of her latest outfits (and I want to steal all of them) and other warm and fuzzy posts that make me smile.
Real Girl’s Realm Blog Makeover
Teal and Yellow Color SchemeUpdates:
1. New style guide which included colors and fonts for Mary to use like yellows and teals that she loves.
2. Implementing the new colors and fonts into the site.
3. Creating a fun header that used the colors and fonts in the styleguide.
4. Having Mary use the “page break” option in Blogger after the first paragraph so more posts were accessible.
5. Setting up social media buttons for her that matched her site.
6. Setting up her MailChimp newsletter.
“Amanda is a great person to work with and has an eye for design. Her pricing is fair for the work and she is a great resource for blog questions. She sent me the color scheme and several designs to choose from and made tweaks as needed. She also gave me general suggestions for making my blog look better, like adding page breaks and moving around some of my widgets. She is a pleasure to work with and very knowledgeable about web design. She is professional and efficient at what she does. She responded promptly to my emails and answered my questions. Amanda is the bomb. 🙂 ” // Be sure to check out Mary’s blog and her personal review of my services here.

As usual I had so much fun doing this blog makeover and I’m so happy I was able to recall how to style Blogger themes. I did to a little prep work for this on my own Blogger test site, so I think that helped a little bit. I can’t wait to see where this blog makeover takes Mary and her lovely blog!
Awwww, what a great post! I am still loving my new look! You are awesome sauce! I can’t wait to see more of your makeovers!
