Hey there! I’m Amanda. Welcome to ALB Designs!
I LOVE blogging. And talking about blogging. And helping other bloggers make their blogs pretty.
The Purpose of this Site
The purpose of the site Amanda Loves Blogging is two-fold:
- I can ramble on and on about one subject that I could talk about all day: blogging.
- To support my new small business designing blogs for newbie bloggers on a budget.
What You Will Find Here
–As many tutorials on the basics of blogging as I can possibly make. Some of these will come in short-form blog posts or lists and others will come in the form of e-books or e-courses.
–Lots of resources and bloggers to follow outside of this site.
–A flawed human’s tales of navigating through the big bad world of blogging.
–A blogger who isn’t too big or famous to remember the beginning OR the newbie struggles.
-Blogging services for the newbie blogger. (I especially love helping with food blogs because I’ve had one for 5 years.)
Why Is This Site Any Different from the Zillion Other Blogging Sites?
Well that’s a silly question.
Just kidding. Kind of.
I think we all have our own unique perspectives that we can share with the world. (<—this is why I think everyone should have a blog!)
I share my own experiences from the point of view of:
-a non-techy-person (although I’ve learned lots of geeky stuff over the years through trial and error)
-a blogger who isn’t too smart to explain things at a basic level (<—and one who is clearly honest)
-someone who is a natural observer and therefore notices what’s working out there and why
-a naturally curious person who loves experimenting (sometimes to her detriment and sometimes to her benefit)
-someone who truly loves blogging and would do it whether or not she makes any money (although it’s cool to get paid to do it)
History of Blogging
Again..I love blogging. This is why I now have three blogs.
I blog over at:
and
and right here (where you are now).
I started Diary of a Semi-Health Nut in June 2010 after watching the movie Julie + Julia. I was convinced that I needed to do this in order to get the attention of publishers out there so I could write my book. Whatever book that may be. I was also convinced I had some unique ideas on how to live a healthy live without going crazy. Now? I kind of feel like a tiny canary in a sea of beautiful peacocks (weird analogy?), but I can’t help but stick to it because I keep learning and improving.
Blogging on DSHN gave me a purpose. A voice. An outlet. I have met amazing friends and learned a ton about myself and the world around me. (i. love. blogging.) I also obtained my first couple of freelance writing gigs online using my blog as an example of my work. I even started to make some money blogging in 2014.
I got the idea for The iLOVE Project at a time in my life when I was pretty down slash not sure what I was doing with my life and wanted to remind myself to keep my chin up. It tends to be true that if one person is feeling something, there are others who can relate. I want to be a voice that encourages and uplifts people wherever they are in life and in the process, I’m inspired and uplifted as well. Win-win-win.
Other Mentionable (ish) Things:
-Peanut butter is my favorite. I eat it probably once a day.
-Wait..maybe coffee is my favorite. It might be a tie.
-I have a cat named Zoey who is an annoying but cute ball of fluff. (If you follow me on snapchat SEMIHEALTHNUT you will see lots of her fluffyness.)
-(I write in parenthesis a lot. I can’t help it…I’ve honestly tried to stop and it hasn’t worked so I just go with it.)
-I have been with my fiance for 7+ years (and it’s super weird calling him my fiance after 7 years of dating).
Thank you so much for checking out my blog project!
Also I promise I will get some professional photos taken of me at some point. 😉
